Welcome to the initial issue. My goal with this video series is to fold. I want to share activities that not only will help you feel and move better, improving your daily performance, your quality of life. But also to get you to pay attention! That's right. I think we can all agree that we're all distracted a little more these days like never before. So anything that can bring us back to the present moment, right here, right now, even momentarily is helpful.
With that being said, let's get started! Do you know which act has the greatest impact on our body, how we feel and move? It's breathing of course! The mechanics of it has the greatest impact/affect on how we feel and move. From just a real estate perspective, every time we take a breath in and out our entire body morphs.Our rib cage, spine, and pelvis are all affected. So what better place to start. In the following video, I'm going to coach you up on how I teach the exhale. Yes, the exhale. Most of us struggle mightily with that part of the breathing cycle.
So no better place to start. Here's what you're going to do.
Exhaling x 10: Regular breath in, full, EXAGGERATED exhale out through your mouth.
Exhaling with Pause x 10: Same as above. But this time you're going to hold your breath for 5 seconds(3 count). Do you feel a small amount of ab tension? You should!
Exhaling with ab tension x 5: Sam as above. But this time as you continue to breath in and out, you're going to hold onto your ab tension.
Think about exhaling longer than you would normally. So if you're NOT getting ab tension, EXHALE LONGER!
