Hi Fam!
What if you could change the narrative surrounding what you’re truly capable of? If you’re struggling this week...things have been hard, overwhelming, confusing...you're “in the mud” of it all, so to speak. Remember: YOU CAN’T HAVE THE FLOWER WITHOUT THE MUD!
I remind myself and remind you...our mindset dictates our actions. For example, what I’ve heard (even pre-COVID) is…”I’m not motivated to train online” or “I don’t get as good of a workout at home.”
Okay. True, you may not have all the bells and whistles of the gym. But, if you currently work with me, have done so in the past, or follow me for a hot minute, you know all too well I use bells or whistles in the gym or at home!
To be honest, I have questioned my practices in the past, put down my appearance, and even chased that “shiny object” or “special piece of equipment.” But after years of dealing with all the fear and frustration associated with my own narrative, I realize that these are just normal feelings and emotions that will come up from time to time.
So, what do I do? I’ll take a step back, take a breath, and show myself some kindness. I decide what I want for my body, health, and happiness.
Remind yourself you can handle the challenges in front of you today. By changing our perspective, we change the narrative for ourselves with persistence and consistent daily action. Focus on the small, daily victories…no matter how small they are. Success breeds more success.
I won't lie. REAL change is HARD. It's intimidating. Confusing at times. If your anything like me, overwhelming at times. Because it isn't what you NORMALLY do. It forces us to change habits. To really change our way of thinking about things and doing things. It forces us to go outside of what feels SAFE.
Only you get to decide what actions you’re going to take...every day...every month...to achieve them. So, what are you proud of this week?
Dedicated to your health and longevity,
Mike
