SITTING doesn’t have to HURT…TRY THIS!

Recently, I’ve been asked by numerous clients about sitting for long periods of time and how terrible it feels once you get up and start moving around again.


Hey Mike… Can you HELP? Yes, I CAN! 😉

See, at one point in time, I thought that just “Sitting Up Straight” would solve all our posture issues. That was A LONG TIME ago!

💥Truth Bomb: Sitting up straight for long periods of time (regardless of our position) can have numerous damaging effects on the shape of our structure. If we stay in that position for too long, our muscles will respond accordingly…think rib cage, spine, and pelvis. Ultimately leading to discomfort and strain on muscles and joints that just don’t feel good.


Sitting in ANY PARTICULAR POSTURE is uncomfortable…BUT SITTING POSTURE IS NOT RELATED TO PAIN!

According to @zaccupples, the definition of Healthy Sitting Posture is “best thought of as an active, NOT static posture.”


With that, you would think that the solution is to just get up and move…walk around. YES! But what if you can’t do that?


So, what I have for you today are strategies you can incorporate immediately to make sitting an active process: Think about…

-Changing your sitting posture frequently

-Fidget and moving around

-Actually use the chair that you have supportively

✔️20/20/20 Rule: Every 20 minutes: Look 20 feet out for 20 seconds.


With all that…let’s get started!

Here’s what you’re gonna do: Watch the video! -Sit in a HIGH seated manner (Hips above your knees). Whole foot contact on the floor. -Try moving between these positions at least twice a day or as often as possible throughout your day.

Breathing Strategy: -SILENT NASAL INHALE. OPEN MOUTH RELAXED SIGHING EXHALE (Fogging a glass).

✔️3-5 rds x 5 breaths in each position:


1) Slouch 2) Tall

3) 1 Arm Reaching Overhead 4) Standing (Knees UNLOCKED. RIGHT FOOT forward)


Sitting for long periods of time doesn’t have to hurt. Embracing this active approach can allow you to sit comfortably for much longer.


So, take a break from perfect posture and start moving!
