Carrying Stuff

Hi Fam!

The ability to haul heavier or unbalanced loads is essential for quality of life at any age.

Every day we lug groceries, laundry, bags of dog/cat food, just stuff in general.

Even if trying to remain “independent” as we age is not a concern right now...how about your ability to manage your low back, hip, and neck pain? We all want a STRONG CORE at any age, so we can do what we want to do and love.

This is the third task out of three that I consider crucial for moving well, feeling good, and improving our quality of life at ANY AGE. Loaded Carries are SIMPLE and EFFICIENT. Your whole body is involved...strength, balance, coordination, and you are improving your “capacity” to do MORE work, i.e. just being more capable for life.

In case you missed it, here are my first two tasks:

#1 GETTING UP OFF THE GROUND

#2 LIFTING, LOADING, & UNLOADING STUFF

Here’s what you’re gonna need: Some clear, comfortable space to walk around. And something with weight, in both hands, that challenges you, but NOT beyond your capabilities. I’m using groceries from my latest shopping trip.

Here’s what you’re gonna do: Start with my LONGEVITY RESET

• Exhale with a LONG sighing breath (fogging a glass) • Exhaling x 10 • Exhale with a Pause x 10 (feel that small tension in your lower abs?) • Exhale with Ab Tension: 3 x 2 • Hip Tucking/Untucking x 10/each way • Hip Lift x 12

Go as far as you can, while moving safely. I want you to start where you are and do what you can. PROGRESS takes as long as it takes folks...you have to earn it:)



🍭Try “Nasal Breathing” as you carry. Just breathe in and out of your nose. Mouth closed.

🤷🏻‍♂‍Don’t shrug shoulders.

🌳Look ahead at a distant object.

🚶‍♂️Walk SLOWLY!


Start out by carrying for 2mins...then 5mins...work up to 10mins. Rest as and when necessary.

2-3x/week especially on recovery days.
