Hi Fam,
Ah yes, a new year...2021. Or is it just a rewind of 2020? You get to decide. We all have hit the proverbial “wall” with quarantine, restrictions, and things just being different than they were before. And I totally get it. Circumstances haven’t been ideal for anyone. Training, working out, is different. Even for me. Not my own but my coaching. Remote, LIVE personal training is hard work. Much more so than in-person. BUT does it mean it’s worse? It's actually not! It's just different and has made me a better, more creative trainer. Like most of us, I’ve tried to use this time to learn, grow, adjust, and adapt. Almost a year later, my coaching skillset has grown like I never imagined it could after 32 years of training real people, in person. And for someone who struggles with their words, like I do, my vocabulary has never been better. Long story, short…your circumstances and how you react to them are for YOU to decide. Nobody else, but you. A favorite quote of mine is from George Bernard Shaw: “People are always blaming their circumstances for what they are. I don’t believe in circumstances. The people who got on in this world are the people who get up and look for the circumstances they want, and if they can’t find them, they make them.” My advice would be to avoid the following: “I don’t have any equipment.” “I don’t get as good of a workout with virtual training.” “I’m not motivated to workout at home.” “I can’t workout with a mask.” Whatever your particular circumstances, none of these statements is a fact. They’re all decisions. Only YOU get to decide what goals you’re going to set for yourself. Only YOU get to decide what you’re truly capable of in 2021. Only YOU get to decide what actions you’re going to take...every day, every week, every month, to achieve them. Don’t focus on anybody else or what they think. Their goals and limitations are NOT YOURS. YOU decide what you want for your body, mind, health, and happiness. And,YOU decide what you’re going to do each day to move closer to these goals. Do you believe in YOU? I DO. Dedicated to your health and longevity, Mike
