ROLL Away Your TENSION

MOVING WELL and FEELING BETTER is all about our ability to SHAPE CHANGE against gravity.

 

Basically, it’s all about how we are BUILT…our body structure…like bones, muscles, and connective tissue. And over time, things like genetics, time, and wear and tear will either allow us to move freely…or NOT!

 

See, if we’re tight and stiff all over basic daily tasks like sitting, standing, and walking…never mind performance-based tasks…are gonna be compromised and limited at best. Limiting our ability to do the things we want to do and love.

 

And how about our fall risk as we age? It will absolutely increase with a body that struggles to move.

 

So, it starts with us moving with as LITTLE TENSION as possible!


The rolling exercise I have for you today provides us with the ability to maintain and restore what I like to call our “HONEST” mobility and functionality. This is what we need to move and feel better every day;)

 

Here’s what you’re gonna need:

-Clear/Comfortable/Quiet space

-Something for your head and neck

-Foam Roller

🫁 BREATHING SEQUENCE

🌬️FULL MOUTH EXHALE at the start to get rid of some stale air

-SLOW NASAL ONLY breathing as you roll

-MOVELAZYHEAVY, and SLOW.

 

Here’s what you’re gonna do as DEMONSTRATED:

-Lie on your RIGHT SIDE FIRST

-TOP LEG rests on a foam roller. KNEE below HIP.

-ARMS STACKED UPON ONE ANOTHERSTRAIGHT OUT in front of you.


✔️LOG ROLL your ENTIRE BODY:

-Initiate by SLOWLY moving your TOP KNEE forward a bit

-Then move ONE SEGMENT at a time: knee, hip, low, mid-back, shoulder, and arm

-TOP HAND and ARM will slide over the bottom arm

-Move forward and backward in this manner

🔑DON’T move into a STRETCH at any time during this roll, please!

 

DAILY PRACTICE: 2-5 minutes/SIDE 


Stand up. Try it on. Move around in different directions. Notice how you feel…any different?

 

💡 REMEMBER…if we want to move and feel better as we age, we need to reset our bodies with a SMARTDAILY PRACTICEREAL CHANGE only happens with time and consistency.
