Longevity Breath and Recovery

How often does your mind wander off? Where does it go? Is it hard to refocus once you lose it? Most of us (myself included) spend a good majority of our waking hours on “autopilot”. Meaning, we’re all just going through the motions of getting things done and in no way “present” in the moment.

I can’t say this LOUD enough… “It’s important to stay CONNECTED with yourself and what you’re doing.” And that’s where I come in as your coach. I’ll get you back to the present:)

This is why this concept in my training sessions, whether I’m coaching someone or myself, takes on a whole new meaning. I’m present…110%…ALWAYS. And I expect the same from my clients during our session. Because we want REAL…SUSTAINABLE RESULTS, right?

So, this is how it works. Adult learning is largely based on our ability to focus or attend to the thing we are trying to learn. And make no mistake, my Longevity Method of training is LEARNING.

And as we go through our sessions together, I want you to pay attention to how involved you really are in the execution of each task. This is paramount to YOUR SUCCESS.

Here’s what you’re gonna do:

- Find a “formal breathing” position.

- Sit comfortably on the ground or chair.

- Perform 5 -10 breaths of the LONGEST and SLOWEST NASAL INHALATIONS you can

- PAUSE SLIGHTLY when you reach your limit

- Then NASAL EXHALE by just allowing the air to escape naturally.

Now check this out:

Perform:

10 breaths NOSTRIL PULLING (I know, it’s a little strange. 😮)

10 breaths ALTERNATE NOSTRIL BREATHING:

- use your right hand (thumb and index finger) (watch the video!)

- 5 breaths INHALE LEFT NOSTRIL/EXHALE RIGHT NOSTRIL

- 5 breaths INHALE RIGHT NOSTRIL/EXHALE LEFT NOSTRIL

4:2:6 BREATH RATIO:

- NASAL INHALE: 4 counts

- PAUSE/HOLD your breath: 2 counts (CALM control here)

- NASAL EXHALE: 6 counts

🧘‍♂️ RESET at the bottom. Let the next inhale come when it’s ready…take a moment or two if necessary.

Try this to start your day or on recovery days. It’s an amazing tool to deactivate your stress response…to whatever you might encounter.

Let me know how it goes and if I can help you.

Dedicated to your health and longevity,

Mike
